Services include local routes, express routes, and the popular DASH shuttle. The DASH (Downtown Area Shuttle) is free and provides convenient access around the historic district, including major hotels, shopping areas, and attractions. Schedules, maps, and route details are available via the CARTA app or website.

Taxi services and ride-hailing options such as Uber and Lyft are widely available throughout Charleston and operate reliably to and from the airport. These services are often the easiest option for evening travel or trips to nearby beaches and neighborhoods outside the downtown core.

Airport shuttle services, including SuperShuttle, provide shared-ride and private transportation options between Charleston International Airport and downtown hotels. Private car services, limousines, and charter transportation are also available for group travel or special events.

While not always necessary for downtown stays, renting a car can be useful for exploring beyond the peninsula, including trips to Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island, Mount Pleasant, or nearby plantations. E-scooters are another great way to explore the city, especially over a shorter distance. You will find them all over town. If you already have an Uber account, you can pick-up any Lime scooter with the Uber app.
