IPTA AHNP Travel Bursary
Goal: To encourage and support IPTA Allied Health and Nursing Professionals (AHNP) member attendance to the biennial in-person congress. IPTA recognizes the value of the allied health and nursing team in the care of transplant recipients and their care providers. Additionally recognized are the barriers that AHNP often face to congress attendance, and the many benefits of education and international collaboration. This bursary will facilitate the attendance of two AHNP members by providing complementary attendance to the conference and $1000 USD towards travel and/or accommodation support. One of the two awards will be reserved for applicants from a low and middle income country (LMIC).
Application Deadline: October 13, 2026.
Criteria for consideration:
- Applicants must be a current AHNP member of IPTA in good standing
- Applicants must provide the following:
- Curriculum vitae
- Maximum 400-word statement outlining how conference attendance will impact their current work
- Letter of support for attendance to the conference from their program/manager or leader
- Successful applicants will be expected to attend the entire congress, including the AHNP pre-conference and AHNP business meeting
- Successful applicants will be required to share their experience attending the congress in the IPTA Newsletter; specifically providing key takeaways, insights gained and how the experience has impacted their professional development
Adjudication and presentation of Bursary:
Applications will be reviewed by the AHNP Committee using a scoring rubric and will then be approved by IPTA Council. Recipients of the bursary will be announced and presented to winners at the IPTA Congress Awards and Business meeting.

IPTA - Nominated Awards
The IPTA Awards Committee is convened biannually in order to review and make recommendations for the IPTA awards given out at the IPTA Congress every two years. The award nominations open in the Fall of each year prior to the biannual congress.

IPTA Congress Scientific Awards
In person Congress Scientific Awards.
- 5 Awards of $1,000 USD will be giving to high score applicants that are attending the in person meeting. The awards aims to help cover the cost of travel and accommodation during the meeting.
Application Deadline: October 13, 2026
The IPTA Congress Scientific Awards are designed to recognize scientific merit and encourage membership and interest in IPTA.
To be eligible for a scientific award, an individual must:
- Submit at least one abstract as a presenting author.
- Be a trainee, AHP or resident of an emerging economy country. As such, must be within two (2) years of completion of their training and/or fellowship, or provide proof of residency.
- A supporting letter must be submitted as a part of the award application. This letter must be signed by the applicant's Training Program Director to verify the applicant’s status as a young investigator. Authors will not be considered for an award if the required letter is not sent. The applicant MUST be the presenting author. No exceptions will be made.
- For emerging economy country application, a proof of residency must be provided with the application to be considered.
Process for bestowing the award:
- Awardees will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants based upon the abstract's degree of excellence (top score), as determined by the Scientific Program Committee.
- Awards may not exceed a maximum amount of $1,000 USD per awardee (reimbursement will be made upon submission of receipts). A maximum of 5 awards from IPTA will be provided.
- Final selection of recipients will be approved by IPTA.
Awards:
- 5 Awards of $1,000 USD will be giving to high score applicants that are attending the in person meeting. The awards aims to help cover the cost of travel and accommodation during the meeting.
- Award recognition certificate
- Complimentary IPTA membership (if not already a member) for 2027-2028.
TTS IPTA Congress Scientific Awards
TTS IPTA Congress Scientific Awards are designed to help offset expenses incurred to attend (in person) the IPTA 2026 Congress and awarded based on the scientific merit of applicants.
- Awards may not exceed a maximum amount of $1,000 USD per awardee. A maximum of 5 awards from TTS will be provided.
Application Deadline: October 13, 2026
The TTS IPTA Congress Scientific Awards are based on the scientific merit of abstracts received from members who are trainees, allied health professionals and/or residents of emerging economy countries. The awards, not exceed $1,000 USD per awardee, are intended to help offset expenses associated with travel, accommodation and registration, and thus disbursement amounts may vary dependent on location. Therefore, recipients must attend the congress in order to receive the award.
To be eligible for a TTS IPTA congress scientific award, applicants must:
- Submit at least one abstract as a presenting author.
- Be a trainee, Allied Health Professional or resident of an emerging economy country. Trainees must be within two (2) years of completion of their training and/or fellowship, or provide proof of residency.
- Be a member of TTS. If an applicant is not a member of The Transplantation Society, a membership application must be completed on the TTS website https://tts.org/member-area/member and accepted in order for the award application to be reviewed and considered. The membership application must be initiated prior to the Congress abstract submission closure date.
- A supporting letter must be submitted as a part of the travel award application. This letter must be signed by the applicant's Training Program Director to verify the
applicant’s status as a trainee/young investigator. Candidates will not be considered for an award if the required letter is not sent. The applicant MUST be the presenting author. No exceptions will be made. - Awardees must attend in-person the designated award presentation session scheduled during the Congress to receive the award.
Process for bestowing the award:
- Awardees will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants based upon the abstract's degree of excellence (top score), as determined by the Section Congress Scientific Program Committee.
- Every effort will be made by TTS to award at least one scientific award to an applicant from each of the six TTS geographic regions (if applicable). The geographic regions are North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
- Awards may not exceed a maximum amount of $1,000 USD per awardee.
- Final selection of recipients will be approved by TTS.
IPTA-ESOT Congress Scientific Awards
The IPTA-ESOT Congress Scientific Award recognizes scientific excellence based on an abstract submission from the European Union or the United Kingdom.
Attendance at the meeting is mandatory. Award recipient will receive recognition for their presented research and a monetary award of 500 USD.
There is NO application necessary. All eligible abstract submissions will be automatically considered. The award will be adjudicated by IPTA.
To be eligible for this award, an individual must:
- Submit at least one abstract as presenting author.
- Work in a center in the European Union or the United Kingdom.
- The award recipient must present the abstract at the congress.
- Attend the designated award presentation session scheduled during the Congress.
- IPTA and/or ESOT membership is not mandatory but is encouraged.
